A Note from Mr Wormleighton
It is a pleasure to welcome you to Sycamore Class. Whether children are joining Year 3 and beginning their journey in the juniors, or continuing into Year 4, I look forward to supporting them as they learn, grow and achieve throughout the year.
In Sycamore Class, I encourage all children to develop a positive growth mindset towards their learning, challenge themselves, and demonstrate excellent behaviour for learning. Together, we will continue to build confidence, resilience and independence, while working as a team to make Sycamore Class a happy and successful place to learn.
Parent support is always greatly appreciated, and children benefit enormously from spending time at home reading, practising spellings, learning times tables and exploring topics together.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions at any point during the year. You can call the school or email: parents@smrc.lancs.sch.uk.

Sycamore Class Information
PE
This half term, PE will take place on Mondays and Fridays. Remember to come to school on these days wearing your St Mary's uniform and bring your PE kit in a bag to change into.
Homework
Homework consists of spellings, reading and times tables. The spellings are found on the half-termly homework sheet. There may be the occasional English or maths sheet for additional learning. On the homework sheet, Sycamore Class are given a selection of ideas for additional learning linked to our current topics. There will be a spelling test each week on Friday. You could use the spelling menu below to give you ideas to help with these.

Reading
Children in Sycamore Class are given books to take home from the school's Big Cat reading scheme. Please ensure your child reads at least three times a week and remembers to hand in their reading record when they have read so we can change the books when required.
Personal Belongings
Please make sure that all belongings are clearly labelled with your child's full name. Sycamore Class do not need to bring in any stationery at all - everything they need to learn will be provided.
IDL
St Mary’s are signed up to IDL, an online program designed to help all children with literacy and numeracy skills. IDL will tailor the children’s needs to the tasks it sets. There are designated times for some children to use the app in school, but all children are able to access IDL at home. As well as key maths and literacy skills, there are also times table check activities they can work on. Your child may not have access to the literacy section, but all children can work on the numeracy activities. To access IDL, go to https://appuk.idlsgroup.com/#/login.
