EYFS Documents

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets out the framework for children’s learning and development from birth to age five, before they begin the National Curriculum. It is based on national guidance, including Development Matters .

The EYFS places a strong emphasis on learning through play and meaningful experiences. It prioritises the prime areas of communication and language, personal, social and emotional development, and physical development, as these form the foundation for all future learning.

This approach recognises that young children learn best through exploration, interaction and play, supported by adults who help to develop their skills, confidence and understanding.
