Homework Information

English and Maths - CGP Books

Class 3 homework will be set on Friday and we will mark it together in class on the following Friday. Please ensure you have completed your homework before we go through it in class.

Make sure you read your home-reader book at least three times a week – if possible every night. Two house-points are awarded to you each time you read. Can you get to the next level on your home-reader challenge?

Please learn your spellings for Thursday’s test. Use a dictionary to check any meanings that you are unsure of. You could use the ‘Spelling Menu’ for fun ideas of ways of learning your spellings each week. You will be provided with a spelling sheet each week.

Times Tables Olympics

In Class 3 we are taking part in a Times Tables Olympics, with medals ranging from ‘Finalist’ to ‘Platinum’. Times tables are so important so please ensure that you practise these each week. We will have our Times Tables Olympics Quiz on a Friday and you will take the sheet home to help you practise. How quickly can you move up the medal table? Good quality websites to help you learn your tables are:

Homework Grid

This year, each class is being given an optional Homework Grid. Have a look through and have a go at any additional home-learning challenges that you wish to.

St Mary’s are signed up to IDL, an online program designed to help all children with literacy and numeracy skills. IDL will tailor the children’s needs to the tasks it sets. There are designated times for some children to use the app in school, but all children are able to access IDL at home. As well as key maths and literacy skills, there are also times table check activities they can work on.  Your child may not have access to the literacy section, but all children can work on the numeracy activities. To access IDL, go to https://appuk.idlsgroup.com/#/login.
